The Critical Global Studies Institute (CGSI) at Sogang University, in collaboration with The Korean Association of Contemporary Art and Photography, is pleased to present the special exhibition UNPAST: Topographies of Memory as part of the Incheon International Contemporary Photography Exhibition 2026.

Combining the prefix un- with past, the exhibition points to a past that is considered concluded in official historical narratives but continues to shape the present through its effects on individuals, families, and communities, as well as through material traces, places, images, and data. Rather than approaching memory as a fixed record of the past, participating artists explore what is remembered and what is left out, how the past persists in the present, how we mourn and remember, and how memories of the future might emerge through evolving media and changing conditions.
