About the speaker, Stefan Berger:
Stefan Berger is the Director of the Institute for Social Movements, Ruhr University Bochum, Germany, and Chairman of the committee of the History of the Ruhr Foundation. He is also Professor of Social History at the Ruhr University. He specializes in nationalism and national identity studies, historiography and historical theory, comparative labour studies, and the history of industrial heritage. He has written extensively on the nationalization of history, including "Nationalizing the Past: Historians as Nation Builders in Modern Europe" (with Chris Lorenz, Palgrave Macmillan, 2010) and "Narrating the Nation: Representations in history, media, and the arts" (with Linas Eriksonas and Andrew Mycock, Berghan Books, 2011).
